‘The Tipping Tide’ is an epic poem, written for the inspirational
in 2019
by poet Rhett Griffiths.
It formed
part of the site-specific installation ‘Lookout’
, combining poetry, sound & sculpture, and
emerged from collaborative conversations with artist
The poem confronts dying oceans, marine life extinctions, and the imminent ecological disaster facing human populations. The work
dares to look into the future, intended as a wake-up call that this is "the tipping tide", that "hope is now, or never", and that together we can resist catastrophe, and fight for each other and future generations
“Many thanks to Devi Singh (Artistic Director of Siren Festival) for commissioning the poem, the introduction to Roger Hardy, and her support during the creation of ‘The Tipping Tide’ & ‘Lookout’, to Roger Hardy for his friendship, openness and warm collaboration, and to Ian Rowlands & Gina Gow for welcoming me to the Siren family.”
